How did you decide to play soccer, especially as a goalkeeper?
Lise Van Gemert was often on the sidelines to find out how she was supporting her brother who was playing soccer. However, it started to tickle more and more to start playing soccer herself and so she started playing soccer as a field player. At a game, the goalkeeper of her team didn’t want to keep any more and nobody else wanted to keep, so she decided not to abandon her team and to substitute herself as a goalkeeper for her teammates. Meanwhile, Lise is already playing with the ladies of K.W.F.C. Wuustwezel in 2nd provincial and has defended the goal of the Belgian national team several times.idelines to find out how she was supporting her brother who was playing soccer. Which goalkeepers do you admire?
Courtois and Ter stegen are both world class goalkeepers. Each with his own style, but certainly with as many qualities to make their team better.
It’s Lise’s big dream to become as good as both goalkeepers :-).
How would you define yourself as a goalkeeper?
As a modern goalkeeper you have to be versatile, but the most important thing as a goalkeeper is to coach well. That’s why Lise is constantly looking to adjust her team where she can. It’s not always about the one handsome save you have to make as a goalkeeper, if you could have prevented it through good coaching. Playing soccer is also very important for Lise. Just as with coaching, she wants to be a last point of play for her defence. As a goalkeeper, you should therefore have sufficient self-confidence and ball control in this respect That’s where my past as a fielder comes in handy.
What do you think is the most important quality a goalkeeper should have?
Lise Van Gemert has already had many great experiences at her young age (currently 15), but is certainly still in the early stages of what she can achieve. Many girls dream to be able to achieve this, but there is also a lot in return. For example, she has to make more time to train or play soccer from going shopping with the girlfriends. This is not at all a sacrifice for her and she continues to play soccer with full conviction to make even more of her dreams come true.
How do you prepare yourself and your gloves for a competition?
Listening to music before a match is common knowledge that many athletes do this in order to isolate themselves from the outside world and focus on their performance. This is no different for Lise Van Gemert, but as soon as she’s getting ready to go on the football field, wetting the gloves properly is one of the rituals Lise invariably performs. By wetting the goalkeeper gloves well, the grip is much better and the balls stick to the gloves.
And how many gloves do you usually wear per year?
Usually around 6 pairs per season.
Which brands did you play with before you discovered Prostar?
Why did you start playing with ProStar or are you still playing with ProStar and didn’t go back to a well-known brand?
Prostar offers a very good quality of gloves. The grip and durability are super and the gloves are cast like a glove for me. This feeling also gives me more confidence so she doesn’t have to think about it during the game and can concentrate on her job as a goalie.
What is the hardest thing for a goalie?
As a goalkeeper, you have to stay focused all the time. Even if you have nothing to do with an entire game, you should always stay focused, because in the last seconds of the game you may have to make that one important save.
Finally, what advice would you give to a young goalkeeper?
Stay inside yourself as a goalkeeper and even if it’s hard to keep going. Being a goalkeeper is one of the hardest if not the hardest position on the pitch. So don’t let a setback knock you out of line, but fight back and continue with why you are there Because you love standing there. Because you want to be a goalie.
Which models did he choose?
Lise does not hesitate and chooses the best affordable quality available on the market. No compromise on quality or price. Among other things, she chose the following models. Do you also want to work with these professional goalkeeper gloves?
